Cruza as born at the University of Buenos Aires, thanks to the efforts of Hernán Grecco. It lies at the intesection between physics and design. It was both a graduation project of a group of industrial designers and physicists.
In order to bring the device to the market, Solbion, a high-tech startup from The Netherlands, stepped in to finalize the product development cycle and commercialize the system.
Cruza is the first example of an open-hardware, commercially available light-sheet microscope. There are no business models to replicate, no clear path forward, just the passion to explore and push boundaries.
We believe in making science accessible and reproducible. Opening our hardware and software is the first step in that direction. Empowering scientists and researchers to push the boundaries of what is available, and what can be understood.
